Imortalizar um amor desaparecido

Imortalize an dead love

It was one of the hardest tasks I've ever had so far in "Conta-me Histórias": to make a book for someone who has died. I had never done anything like that and when Cátia contacted me I was a bit scared with the request. João, Catia’s husband, died in July of 2015, victim of cancer. A storyI wrote about here a few days ago and, apart from all the drama, it is a testament to the strength and courage of two people who were in love, who have been married for a decade and, as such, have unique memories. I'm biased to write this, but I’m unaware of a best way to immortalize the life of someone than writing a book. So, I faced the request of Cátia as a challenge and accepted the project.
I confess that, on the phone, there were times I was very emotional, ready to go to tears. But the strength on the other side of the line, the laughter and friendliness made me realize that Cátia is an example of courage and determination. She is currently volunteering in a hospital and in a nursery. She spends her time helping others, forgeting the sorrow and honoring the memory of her loved one, who whenever he is, for sure, he is proud of her. "He told me to never fail to be happy and to continue to travel as he was by my side." Cátia already went to Istanbul, Madeira, Cape Verde and there are plans to continue travelling. Now she can add this book, this little piece of luxury, where she stores photos and a text that immortalizes the memory of one of the most important men in Cátia’s life. In the future, nobody, but nobody, can erase the love Cátia and João lived. I wish you all the best, Cátia.
